Rex Gordon Riley, 83 of Wadsworth, formerly of Ashland passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2024.

He was born on October 4, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Gordon and Velma (nee Fisher) Riley.

Rex graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1960.

He married the former Margaret C. Berry on December 20, 1984.

Rex bought and sold dairy cattle for 60 years, but physical problems did not stop him. He thoroughly enjoyed his business, Rex G. Riley Cattle and most of all meeting people. He was a man of tremendous character and always told you what he thought.

When not working on his farm, he loved going to antique stores and auctions with Margaret.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Mrs. Margaret Riley of Wadsworth; two brothers, Ross Riley of Cincinnati and Neil (Lyanne) Riley of Columbia, Missouri; his sister-in-law, Lynne Smallstey of Wooster; two brothers-in-law, Joel Berry of Shreve and Jack (Judy) Berry of Shreve; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rex is preceded in death by his step-mother, Alta Riley; a sister-in-law, Karen Riley; his wife’s parents, Russell and Vera Berry, a brother-in-law, Larry Smallstey; and a sister-in-law, Doranna Berry.

In keeping with wishes, a private family celebration will be planned.
