MANSFIELD — Powering a sleigh while carrying a huge bag of toys and a heavy-set man all around the globe in one night is bound to make a reindeer cranky.

So, while some cautiously approached the reindeer behind Richland Carrousel Park on Friday night, a gentle warning was issued. You can pet them on the back, but they get frisky if you try to pet their heads.

Still, a number of folks got the chance for a close-up view of the magical creatures during the annual Christmas Time in the City celebration in downtown Mansfield.

The highlight of the event, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, took place at 6 p.m.

Additionally, Richland Carrousel Park was the depot for carriage rides, photos with Santa, rides on the carrousel and more. It was a fun-filled, family evening as the chill of December chased most folks inside for a bevy of activities and snacks.
