COLUMBUS – Hillsdale will be carrying the banner of north central Ohio football into state championship weekend at Canton’s Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Falcons overcame a 22-6 deficit to dismiss Danville 25-22 on a frigid Friday night at Shelby High School in the Division VII state semifinals.
Coach Trevor Cline’s crew faces perhaps the most daunting assignment of any team invited to the state finals — a matchup with No. 1-ranked Maria Stein Marion Local (15-0) on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
The Flyers are riding an incredible, 63-game winning streak. Marion Local drilled Columbus Grove 41-6 in their state semifinal.
Canton matchups
Following the state semifinals Friday night, the pairings are now set for the 53rd annual Ohio High School Athletic Association football state championships.
Seven title games will be played December 5-7 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, beginning with the Division II game on Thursday night.
