Valerie Lucinda Zwayer, nee Tidwell
Born July 28,1943 in Roswell, New Mexico
Passed away peacefully, with her husband by her side, on November 20, 2024 from complications of Alzheimer’s.
Valerie had a gift for music, and taught herself how to play the piano and guitar. She was a wonderful viola player and played in her high school and college orchestras. She had a beautiful singing voice too that matched her sweet, kind demeanor.
Valerie loved to tell the story of how she was born on the same day, and in the same hospital as John Denver. She loved to dance, and was chosen to appear on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand when the show came to her high school, Raytown High in Kansas City, Missouri.
After high school Valerie attended Central Missouri State where she met her soul mate and love of her life David. They were married for 62 years, and had 4 children whom she loved dearly.
Valerie worked as a librarian at the Mt. Gilead Public Library for many years, and made some lifelong friends while there.
Valerie was always up for a scenic drive, a game of cards, or a trip to the casino.
Valerie will be deeply missed by her husband David, sons David (Michelle) Zwayer II, Dean Zwayer, and daughter Jennifer (Nathan)Sugerik. Grandchildren Cortney, James, and Colton Zwayer, Amanda Sugerik, great-grandson Cade, sister Kathy McNeil, many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents Harry Tidwell and Eugenia Alice Mallen, sister Caroline Jean Nasab, and loving son James Orlando Zwayer.
The family will receive family and friends for visitation Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 3-5 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will begin at 5 pm. Celebrant Christine Radojcsics will speak. A private burial will be at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Valerie to The Central Ohio Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, or Mt Carmel Hospice Fund. Thank you for your generosity.

Sometimes you find someone who is iridescent, and when you do, nothing will ever compare. Valerie was iridescent.
