Old church building on a grassy knoll
Peace Lutheran Church is being considered for redevelopment.

GALION — The congregation of Peace Lutheran Church after 174 years transferred ownership of the property to the Galion Port Authority with the hope of seeing the property redeveloped and preserved as an asset for the community.

The Galion Port Authority’s role is to promote economic development using the tools of the Ohio Revised Code to enhance, foster, aid, provide or promote, transportation, economic development, housing, recreation, governmental operations, culture or research.

Port Authorities can buy, sell or hold real estate and provide financing tools for economic development.

The Galion Port Authority was created by the City of Galion.

The Port continues to promote housing development at the Renschville School site with anticipated construction to start on the second and third lot shortly.

Persons interested in the Peace Lutheran Church site should contact Mark Rantala, Executive Director at 419-759-0747.
