MANSFIELD — A Mansfield man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of 26 sex-related charges involving a minor and not guilty on 37 others.
Earl Whipple, 50, was sentenced Nov. 1 in Richland County Common Pleas Court to two consecutive life sentences without parole for two first-degree felony rape charges, according to court records.
His felony charges include rape, attempted rape, sexual battery, gross sexual imposition, kidnapping, intimidation and endangering children.
Whipple’s remaining 23 sentences are to be served concurrently. Richland County Common Pleas Judge Phil Naumoff dealt the defendant six additional life sentences, eight sentences of 10 years to life and one 15 years to life sentence.
His remaining sentences range from 12 months to four years. Whipple will also be registered as a sex offender and violent offender, according to court records. He was granted 212 days of jail credit for time already served at the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
Whipple must also pay restitution for extradition in the amount of $3,670.50 to RCSO and the same amount to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office.
His punishments stem from an 18-month period from 2017 to 2018 where Whipple sexually assaulted a juvenile under the age of 10.
In a seperate case, Whipple was sentenced to 12 months in prison for aggravated possession of drugs.
Criminal sentencing and other dispositions

September
— Brent Sutton, 50, was sentenced to nine months in prison for aggravated possession of drugs. An additional aggravated possession of drugs charge was dismissed. Sutton was granted 28 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
October
— Nathan Jolley, 35, received a 12-month prison sentence for menacing by stalking. Jolley was granted 48 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Matthew Jacobs, 43, received three consecutive sentences for three charges; failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, vandalism and breaking and entering. Jacobs’ punishments include sentences of 36, 17 and six months. A second count of failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer was dismissed. He was also given a four year driver’s license suspension which began Oct. 2. Jacobs must pay $30,681.56 in restitution to the case’s victim. He was granted three days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Kelly Edmonson, 37, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for possession of a fentanyl-related compound and aggravated possession of drugs. Edmonson is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $80 to the Mansfield Police Department crime lab.
— Jordan Thompson, 25, was accepted into Richland County Substance Abuse Treatment Court on Oct. 10. Thompson was indicted on possession of cocaine Feb. 22. Thompson’s case has been transferred to SATC for all further proceedings.
— Austin Summerfield, 29, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for two charges of aggravated possession of drugs. One additional aggravated possession of drugs count was dismissed. Summerfield is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Khyle Friesner, 33, was sentenced to 16 to 19 years in prison for 20 charges, including kidnapping, felonious assault, attempted felonious assault, abduction, permitting child abuse, strangulation and domestic violence. Friesner was granted 46 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO and must serve two to five years of mandatory post-release control. He must also register as a violent offender.
— Edward Walker, 42, received four prison sentences, ranging from 36 months to 11 months, for four charges; burglary and three counts of menacing by stalking. Four charges were dismissed, including trespass in a habitation when a person is present or likely to be present, tampering with evidence, disrupting public services and telecommunications harassment. Walker was sentenced to one to three years of mandatory post-release control and granted 189 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Jacob Hamons, 35, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for possession of drugs. Hamons is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $35 to the Ohio State Highway Patrol crime lab.
— Adam Vetter, 51, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for aggravated possession of drugs. Vetter is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab.
— Denton Merritt, 24, received 30 months of community control for an amended aggravated trafficking in drugs charge. Merritt was also fined $350 and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. Merritt is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Roxann Collmar, 26, was accepted into Richland County Substance Abuse Treatment Court on Oct. 25. Collmar was indicted on trafficking in hashish, possession of hashish, trafficking in marijuana and possession of marijuana on April 18. Collmar had three charges dismissed; possession of hashish, trafficking in marijuana and possession of marijuana. Her charge of trafficking in hashish was amended to permitting drug abuse. Collmar’s case has been transferred to SATC for all further proceedings.
— Maureen Munley, 57, was accepted into diversion on Oct. 2. Munley was indicted on an aggravated possession of drugs charge Aug. 28, 2023.
— Stephen Perry, 43, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for having weapons while under disability, including a forfeiture specification. Four charges were dismissed; carrying a concealed weapon, forfeiture specification, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, forfeiture specification. Perry was also fined $1,000 and must forfeit a firearm to the State of Ohio. Perry is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Chase Smith, 23, was sentenced to four to six years in prison for illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance. That sentence will be served concurrently with two four-year sentences. An additional 11-month sentence is to be served consecutive to Smith’s first three prison terms. In total, Smith was charged with eight counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, of which four counts were dismissed. Smith is to register as a Tier III sex offender and is subject to up to five years of post-release control for a felony sex offense. Smith was granted eight days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Anissa Craft, 57, was sentenced to 36 months in prison for having weapons while under disability, including a forfeiture specification. Craft is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must forfeit a firearm to the State of Ohio. Craft was granted 15 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Adam Cameron, 34, had their case dismissed on Oct. 2. Cameron was originally indicted on having weapons while under disability, with a forfeiture specification, on April 18.
— Heather Jones, 51, received a 12-month prison sentence for two merged counts of possession of cocaine. Jones is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $80 to the MPD crime lab. Jones was granted 21 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Gary Craft, 52, was accepted into Richland County Substance Abuse Treatment Court on Oct. 25. Craft was indicted on possession of cocaine May 24. Craft’s case has been transferred to SATC for all further proceedings.
— Lydia Roane, 54, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for possession of cocaine. Roane is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab.
— Ashley Bandy, 26, was accepted into Richland County Substance Abuse Treatment Court on Oct. 10. Bandy was indicted on possession of a fentanyl-related compound May 10. Bandy’s case has been transferred to SATC for all further proceedings.
— Roderick Moore, 50, received 36 months of community control for aggravated possession of drugs. Moore is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab.
— Matthew Davis, 38, was sentenced to eight months in prison for possession of drugs. Davis is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 75 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— James Harris III, 68, received 36 months of community control for breaking and entering. An additional count of breaking and entering was dismissed. Harris III is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Kimberly McLaughlin, 52, received 30 months of community control for 13 charges, including grand theft, theft (10 counts) and forgery (two counts). McLaughlin is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $12,811.46 in restitution to the case’s victim.
— Tiera Bowens, 26, had their case dismissed without prejudice on Oct. 16. Bowens was originally indicted on an assault charge June 10.
— Timothy Stamper, 44, received 36 months of community control for two charges; breaking and entering and misdemeanor theft. Stamper is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Ashlea Roberts, 32, was sentenced to eight months in prison for possession of a fentanyl-related compound. An illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto grounds of a specified governmental facility charge was dismissed. Roberts is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. Roberts was granted 71 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Branden Tolle, 36, received 36 months of community control, to be transferred to Morrow County, for two charges; possession of cocaine and possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Two counts of possession of drugs were dismissed. Tolle is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Gary Tackett, 41, was sentenced to 36 months of community control, to be transferred to Summit County, for two charges; aggravated possession of drugs and possession of cocaine. Tackett is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab.
— James Davis, 50, received 48 months of community control for two aggravated possession of drugs charges. Davis is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Demorio Taylor, 43, was sentenced to six months in prison for fourth-degree felony domestic violence. A felonious assault charge was dismissed. Taylor is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 90 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Timothy Johnson, 46, received 36 months of community control for having weapons while under disability. Johnson was also fined $500 and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Andrew Siesel, 37, was sentenced to 48 months of community control for two charges; tampering with evidence and possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Siesel is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Nicole Longden, 37, received 36 months of community control for aggravated possession of drugs. Longden is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Crystal Dudte, 37, was sentenced to 60 months of community control for two charges; tampering with evidence and possession of a fentanyl-related compound. Dudte is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab.
— John Sexton, 44, received an 18-month prison sentence for an escape charge. Sexton is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 55 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Stephanie Talley, 36, was sentenced to six months in prison for failure to provide notice of change of address. Talley was given another six-month sentence for failure to verify address. Talley is subject to up to two years of post-release control and was granted 42 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
November
— Kaley Montgomery, 29, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for aggravated possession of drugs. Montgomery is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Lisa Strong, 39, was accepted into Richland County Substance Abuse Treatment Court on Nov. 8. Strong was indicted on possession of heroin Jan. 25. Strong’s case has been transferred to SATC for all further proceedings.
— David Simpson, 71, received a six-month prison sentence for possession of cocaine. He was granted six days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO. Simpson is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab.
— Jarvis Chatman, 33, was accepted into Richland County Substance Abuse Treatment Court on Nov. 8. Chatman was indicted on aggravated possession of drugs on April 5. Chatman’s case has been transferred to SATC for all further proceedings.
— Alejandro Ramirez, 25, received an 11-month prison sentence for aggravated possession of drugs. Ramirez is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. Ramirez was granted 48 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.
— Bobby Vann, 44, was sentenced to 36 months of community control for two charges; possession of drugs and having weapons while under disability. Vann was also fined $1,000 and must pay $40 to the MPD crime lab. Vann is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
— Lanette Kline, 43, received 36 months of community control, to be transferred to Wyandot County, for aggravated possession of drugs. Kline is subject to up to two years of post-release control.
