SHELBY — The Shelby Girl Scouts will conduct an official U.S. flag retirement ceremony Nov. 10.
The ceremony will take place at the Shelby Girl Scout House, 52 E. Maxwell Drive, at 2 p.m. and will be conducted by the Girl Scouts and their leaders from the Shelby community.
Prior to that time and beginning Nov. 4, any group, organization or individual who has a U.S. flag that should be retired from service because of damage, age or other malady, may deposit it in a special container at the Girl Scout House.

There are specific procedures and policies for the retirement of Old Glory and those practices will be followed specifically by the Girl Scouts and their leaders during the ceremony.
