Daniel Davis, age 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, and friend, passed October 27, 2024 at home into the presence of Jesus surrounded by his loving family. His life was a testament to faith, dedication, and a love for both people and nature.

Daniel was a teacher through and through, also teaching Sunday school. His commitment to studying the Bible was profound; he would dedicate many hours preparing and immersing himself in Scripture each week to share God’s word through his Sunday school lessons, which brought much depth and insight to every class.

For over 30 years, Daniel served as a principal at Lexington and Arcadia Schools, shaping countless young lives with patience, wisdom, and a deep commitment to education. His positive influence on students and colleagues alike will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Daniel shared his love for God’s creation with his wife, Carolyn, as they traveled to many National Parks, marveling together at the beauty of the world around them. His reverence for nature extended to his love for fishing. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie or taking trips with friends to Canada. Fishing brought him peace, joy, and an opportunity to connect with the world in a special way and connect with those that went fishing with him. Daniel was an avid Cleveland sports fan, cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Browns with unwavering enthusiasm, always hopeful for victories to come.

Above all, Daniel was a family man, finding his greatest joy in time spent with loved ones. His faith, love, and legacy will remain in the hearts of those he touched forever.

He is survived by wife Carolyn (Hoam) Davis of 56 years; children Laura (Russ) Wangler of Lewis Center, Mindy (Gerrit) Pyke of Westerville and Jim Davis of Fredericktown. He was lovingly known as Papa to his wonderful grandchildren Ella & Natalie Pyke and Emily & Tommy Wangler. Also survived by siblings Joan (Michael) Smith, Jeanine Burkholder, Janet (Doug) Coole, Judy (Gary) Hoam, Tim (Teresa) Davis, Joy (Steve) Motter, Marc (Kari) Davis and Jeni Davis as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. James R, & Marjorie (Bletz) Davis, brother-in-law Gary Burkholder, nephew Timmy Davis and Niece Harper Davis.

The Davis family will accept friends Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10 AM to 1 PM in the Lexington Ave., Snyder Funeral Home where a memorial service honoring Daniel‘s life will begin promptly at 1 PM. Pastor, and brother Tim Davis will officiate.
