MANSFIELD — The filming of a new television commercial will require the temporary closure of some downtown Mansfield streets on Wednesday.
The closures were announced Tuesday by the City of Mansfield and Downtown Mansfield Inc.
Closures will take place between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on North Main Street from Fifth Street to Fourth Street and Fourth Street between Diamond and Walnut streets.
“We’ve been working for a couple of years with a production team that scouts commercials,” said Jennifer Kime, CEO of DMT.
“This is a big one and will mean the closing of Main Street and several businesses for the day. The production team arrives (Tuesday) and will be staged at our offices and at several businesses along Main Street tomorrow,” Kime said.
“We are excited to showcase Mansfield,” she said.
Traffic will be routed around these closures with barricades and signage. Southbound traffic going through downtown is encouraged to use Mulberry Street.
Guests and visitors can access merchants on North Main Street via their rear entrances as streets and public walkways will be inaccessible during the time period.
People will be able to access business on Fourth Street as normal. City officials and DMI said “every measure will be taken to assist the public in using the retailers and businesses as normal.”
Kime said it’s a chance to show off the historic Main Street corridor, which is scheduled to change dramatically in 2025 during a Main Street Corridor Improvement Project.
“The Main Street corridor in Mansfield is iconic,” Kime said. “The architecture, signage and topography really make for a unique and authentic visual.”
