Leo J. Genereux, 82
Leo J. Genereux, 82 of Ashland passed away early Sunday morning, October 27, 2024 in Crestwood Ridge Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro, Ohio.
He was born on May 31, 1942 in Barton, Vermont the son of the late Rudolph and Eva (nee Monet) Genereux.
Leo graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Columbus, Ohio, class of 1956. Following his graduation, he furthered his education at the Ohio State University where he lettered in lacrosse.
He proudly served in the United States Army.
Leo married the former Meredith J. Cole on April 23, 1967.
He owned and operated Eve’s Flowers for more than 35 years in Whitehall. After his retirement he took over Don I. Cole, Inc. as a principal financial advisor in 1997, and retired again in 2014. He was true to his faith all of his life as a Roman catholic with his values and beliefs as his moral compass directing how he lived and treated others.
Leo was a member of Rotary International and the Lion’s Club; always giving back to the communities that supported him in business and service above self. A valuable life lesson that he instilled in all of his children.
Throughout his life, he was an avid outdoors enthusiast enjoying camping, backpacking and canoeing. He was always up for an adventure with family and friends.
Leo was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland where his wife, Meredith grew up and family were founding members.
He is survived by one daughter, Heather (Stephen Schultz) Genereux of Boise, Idaho; three sons, Chris (Leslie) Genereux of Medford, Oregon, Brad (Nana) Genereux of Mount Vernon and Keith (Sachyo) of Misawa, Japan; 10 grandchildren; and one brother, Roger (Shirley) Genereux of Canal Winchester.
In addition to his parents, Leo is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Meredith Jo Genereux who passed from this life on March 20, 2014; and one brother, Marcel Genereux.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Kevin McClain presiding. Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church. Following the service, the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
