Jean G. Dunn, 95
Jean G. Dunn, 95 of Ashland passed away early Thursday morning, October 24, 2024 in Primrose Retirement Community.
She was born on October 24, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Clement Hortanac and Madelyn Johana Glace Kanasko.
Jean graduated from high school in 1947. She married the love of her life, Richard O. Dunn on June 28, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She was a teacher’s aide at several elementary schools in Ashland and a window decorator at local retail stores. In 1994, Jean enjoyed being an extra in the bank scene for the filming of the movie, The Shawshank Redemption.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed reading, attending the symphony concerts at the Myers BandShell at Brookside Park, but most of all spending time with both friends and family.
Jean was a devoted member of St. Edward Catholic Church.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Joni) Dunn of Mansfield; her daughter, Michele (Robin) Krieder of Arlington, Texas; her grandchildren, Tyler (Jess), Dallas, Weston, and Carson Dunn, Courtney (Jeffrey) Johnson, and Lindsey (Dr. Wayne) Hey; along with 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years of marriage, Richard Dunn who passed from this life on December 5, 2018.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church with Father Rod Kreidler presiding. Entombment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
