After seeing a political ad stating that “Jim Jordan is not good for farmers” because he voted NO on all the farm bills, I was reminded of an event I attended several years ago following the severe flooding in Shelby.
Jim Jordan was at the event and I had the opportunity to speak with him and I only had one question for him.
There had just been a recent vote in congress on a bill for flood relief in the area and Jim Jordan voted NO.
I asked him “How could you vote NO on that bill since so many of your constituents were affected? Isn’t that like committing political suicide?”
He looked at me and said “Did you read what all was in that bill? Read it and you will know why I voted NO.”
Since that encounter, I have grown to appreciate having a “watchdog” in Washington D.C. who is interested in responsible spending.
Thank you,
