MANSFIELD — Watson Egner was selected “Student of the Month” for September when the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment conducted its monthly belt promotion ceremonies.
“Watson worked diligently to earn this recognition by embodying the qualities of perseverance, integrity, indomitable spirit, courtesy and self-control,” sensei Reneta Music said.
The following students received belt promotions:
– Jackson Parmer: Brown Belt
– Theo Flanders: Red Belt
– Watson Egner: Blue Belt
– Emerie Benedict: Blue Belt
The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment is located at 44 W. Fourth St. in Mansfield within the Carousel District.
The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment recently relocated to this site, which was formerly the Little Buckeye Children’s Museum. The academy specializes in traditional Japanese and Okinawan karate, with an emphasis on perseverance, integrity, indomitable spirit, courtesy and self-control, according to Music.
Classes at the non-profit school are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. for children ages 6 and older. Classes for children ages 4 and 5 are available on the same days from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
Adult classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Beginning classes are priced at $65 per month.
