Charles M. Hooks, age 86, of Mansfield passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in Vitas Hospice of Cincinnati following a long illness.
He was born August 10, 1938 in Mansfield to the late Jasper and Clesta (Brown) Hooks and graduated from Mansfield Senior High School.
On August 11, 1961 he married Elizabeth Ann (Snay) with whom he celebrated 59 years before she passed away December 14, 2020.
A patriot Charles served in the U.S. Army.
For 33 years he worked for the City of Mansfield as a fire investigator. He was passionate about his career and enjoyed the camaraderie with his fellow firefighters.
A marksman, he enjoyed shooting, but most of all spending time with his family and doting on his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Barbara Ann and Anthony Schneider of Dillsboro, IN; three grandchildren Chris and Jenn Oyster, Ami Oyster, and Katelyn and Rick Mullins; great grandchildren Malakai, Macie, Alexis, Donny, Kara, Mckennzie, Desiree, Lillian, Kipton, Paige, Brianna, and Jaden; and a sister-in-law Ruth Hooks.
Friends may call Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 2-4 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the service will be held Monday at 11 am. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will speak and burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
