MANSFIELD — Candidates for local, state, and federal elected offices as well as issues on the Nov. 5 ballot will make their presentations Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m., in the Mansfield Senior High School auditorium.

The candidates’ event is being sponsored by the Mansfield Branch of the NAACP in collaboration with the Mansfield Senior High School government class.

Students will introduce the candidates, explain the duties of the elected office that they seek, and will have questions for each candidate. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and will be given the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates.

The Mansfield City School District Levy Committee will start the program with an explanation of the proposed school levy that will appear on the Nov. 5 ballot and why it is needed.

Candidates for the 4th Congressional District to the U. S. House of Representatives, the Ohio Senate 22nd District, State Representative 76th District, and Richland County Commissioner will then speak on behalf of their candidacies.

Candidates from both political parties in all contested elective offices received written invitations to participate.

The candidates’ night sponsored by the Mansfield Branch of the NAACP is being offered to educate registered voters on the issues and candidates that the voters will see on the Nov. 5 ballot.

The NAACP is a nonpartisan, 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting equal rights for all citizens and working to protect everyone’s constitutional right to vote in a free and open election.

Admission is free to this event, and all residents are urged to attend. Park in the east parking lot behind the high school at 124 N. Linden Rd. and enter through the double doors in the courtyard entrance to the high school.
