W. Ed Maglott, 93, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his home.
Ed was born September 28, 1931, in Johnsville, Ohio to Walter B. Maglott and Edith M. (Rider) Maglott. Ed met his wife, Carolyn (Strubhar) Maglott at Lake Maria. They were married July 23, 1950 at the former United Brethren Church. He was employed at General Motors for 36+ years. Ed was a member of the Mansfield Men’s Garden Club, Richland County Fair Board, Army National Guard, Richland County Special Deputy, Madison TWP Volunteer Firefighter, Mansfield Motorcycle Club, Life member of Amvets Post 26, Cub Scout Master, and Boy Scout Leader for Troop 179. He took his troop to Philmont, New Mexico. Ed enjoyed gardening, flowers, and was a lover of nature. He will be missed by his loyal Pomeranian companion, Chipper.

Ed is survived by his wife Carolyn M., children, Edwin D. (Bertha) Maglott of Galion; Michael A (Dee) Maglott, of Mansfield; Debra L (Jack) Nutter of Ontario; Linda D. (Bill) Rachel of Mt. Gilead, Diana M. (Paul) Hochstetler of Lexington, John C. Maglott of Taipei Taiwan, James D. (Kim) Maglott of Dallas, GA; and their unofficial adopted son KuoHsin Hsu of Taipai Taiwan, sister Patricia Finley of Lexington, 23 Grandchildren and spouses and 49 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Edith Maglott; granddaughter Amanda Nutter; siblings Dwight Maglott, Charles Maglott, Donna Smith, Wilma Pritchard and Violet Haverfield.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 16 from 11-1 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Home. Service at 1pm. Officiant will be Pastor Ken Tucker. Internment at Oak Grove Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Men’s Garden Club.
