LUCAS — Trucks driven by workers from townships around Richland County joined together Thursday to support the family of Trenton Gallaway.

The 20-year-old was killed in a worksite accident Oct. 2. Gallaway joined the Richland County Highway Department in June 2023 as a seasonal employee, right after graduating from Lucas High School.

He became a full-time employee in March, driving a truck and working to repair and maintain county roads.

The processional — led by Gallaway’s dream pickup truck purchased just days before the accident — traveled from Grace Bible Church in Lucas to Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Family, friends and coworkers say Gallaway truly enjoyed his work, and reminded people of the need for caution around road construction sites.
