MADISON TOWNSHIP — Leaping Lizards! The Madison High School Music Department will performs Annie JR. this fall.
Based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning best musical by Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, Annie JR. tells the story of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents.
“Annie is a heartwarming show with an important message about the true nature of family. In the show, we see how a plucky little girl transforms her entire life by making the most out of every moment,” said Drew Cohen, president of Music Theatre International (MTI).
“MTI would like to applaud the students from Madison for all their hard work on their production.”
Madison Students will present Annie JR. on Nov. 1, 2, 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 2:30 p.m. All shows will be held at Madison Middle School, 1419 Grace St.
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for students and seniors and can be purchased at the door before the show, or at the high school through the cashier during school hours. There is no dress code, but the cast will remind you that you are “never fully dressed without a smile.”
Annie JR. follows the story of an orphan named Annie living a “hard-knock life” at The New York City Municipal Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie dreams of being reunited with her parents and takes action to find them. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.
Rounding out the cast are Bri Studer in the title role of Annie, Sophia Parsons as Miss Hannigan, Brandi Bowles as Grace Ferrell, Drake Ramey playing Rooster with Audrey Ward as his side-kick Lily St. Regis. Gage Workman will be portraying Daddy Warbucks while Livia Foote, Mackenzie Wynn, Harmony Moses, Kennadi Knipp, Nakiyah Johnson, Ashley Anschutz, Loren Carmel, Emily Jones, Lacy Jessee, Milla Wertz, and Tori Smith make up the orphans. Other cast members who will portray servants and New Yorkers are Amerah Hapin, Gaby Vega-Wieland, Kristian Stoots, Kelsie Harry, Courtney Cyrus, Roman Hipfl, Liz Rine, Jerryd Hartman, Piper Donahue, Ash Gusta, Sydney Phillips, Carson Tatum, Beckham White, Liza Semer, Alaina Ash and Neveaeh Lawhun.
