HURON COUNTY — An 81-year-old Shiloh man died in a Sunday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash in Huron County, according to the Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Richard V. Hairston, who troopers said was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle during the accident.
The patrol said Hairston was driving east on U.S. 224 in Ripley Township at 1:18 p.m. in a 2009 Chevrolet HHR.
Troopers said the vehicle went off the left side of the road near Old State Road, striking a ditch and then a tree.
Hairston sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, according to the patrol.
The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by North Central EMS, Greenwich Fire Department, Life Flight and Wilcox Garage and the Huron County Coroner’s Office.
