SHELBY — Shelby FFA members got to attend the 2024 Farm Science Review in London, Ohio last week.

Members got to learn about everything; from animals to farming equipment to agricultural businesses. It was a great opportunity for our members to learn more about agriculture.

On Sept. 13, Shelby FFA students participated in the Ohio Richland County Soil Judging contest. This contest focuses on identifying the type of soil and how it would be able to be used agriculturally.

Participating in the Urban contest were Shelby FFA students from Pioneer Career and Technology Center.

The team placed first with Violet Auck, who was first in the contest, followed by Bergan Loenhardt in third and Courtney Stuckey finishing sixth.

The other team, which participated in the Rural contest, also placed first. Second overall in the Rural contest was Sarah Smith, fourth was Carson Secriskey, fifth was Sam Fairchild, sixth was Jack Stover and Kyleigh Biglin placed seventh.

Many other Shelby FFA members also participated, including Bryanna Francis, Dashawna Davis, Addison Shira, Sean Nolen, Kassie Kleman and Jacob Taylor.

Congratulations to these successful teams and everyone else who participated in the contest. Best of luck at districts.
