MANSFIELD: Sharon Kaye (Tier) Short, age 76, passed away after an extended illness at her home on September 10, 2024. Those who loved her will feel her near whenever they recall the love she gave them, and when they hear lively strains of country music.
Sharon was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on June 21, 1948 to Charles and Marge (Phillips) Tier. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1968. After receiving her diploma, she married Jerry Lee Short, with whom she raised two children, Rosemary and Chuck. A loving and devoted mother, Sharon found joy in being a homemaker and dedicating time to her family. While she always loved being with her husband and children, Sharon also had a passion for line dancing and listening to classic country music, never missing an opportunity to dance to “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” She was also an enthusiastic bowler, even playing on a Saturday night league in Mt. Vernon. Her genuine and faithful nature led her to befriend everyone she met. Selfless throughout, she never turned down a friend in need. Sharon’s heart of gold shines on in her absence.
Sharon is survived by her children, Chuck (Jenifer) Young and RoseMary Young (Curt Price); grandchildren Jerry Young, Samantha Young, and Misty Roskowski; great-grandchild Silas; brother Dave (Dee Mashburn) Tier; nieces Julie (Trent) Long and Angie Kunz (Eric Lehman); best friend Doloris Ward; and many more friends, family, and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Short; parents Charles and Marge Tier; and brother Mike Tier and sister-in-law Cathy Tier.
Sharon’s family invites friends to join them for memorial calling hours on Friday, September 27th from 11am to 1pm at Snyder Funeral Homes, Marion Avenue Chapel. Private burial will take place at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, loved ones may make contributions in Sharon’s memory to Southern Care Hospice.
