MANSFIELD — The following criminal court cases have been resolved in Richland County Common Pleas Court in August.

The list is comprised of any case for which Richland Source has published as an indictment, stories which first began publishing here in February.

August criminal sentencing and other dispositions

— Richard Wells, 37, was sentenced to six-to-nine years in prison for a felonious assault charge, originally filed Sept. 28, 2023. Wells also received 18 months to three years of mandatory post-release control and was granted 174 days of jail credit for time already served at the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

— Tre’shawn Banks, 22, received an 18-month prison sentence for a charge of having weapons while under disability, which included a forfeiture specification. The charge was originally filed Dec. 21, 2023. Banks must forfeit their firearm to the State of Ohio and is subject to up to two years of post-release control. Banks was granted 11 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.

— Todd Rox, 53, was sentenced to serve 180 days in the Richland County Jail for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed April 9, 2021, which was amended from a fifth-degree felony to a first-degree misdemeanor. Rox is to report to the Richland County Jail on Nov. 1 at 9 a.m., unless fines and costs are paid. He was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and $40 to the Mansfield Police Department crime lab. Rox was granted one day of jail credit for time already served at RCSO.

— Cody Zeger, 37, was sentenced to three years of community control for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed Jan. 12, 2024. Zeger was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, as well as $40 to MPD crime lab. He’s subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Ashlee West, 37, received a 24-month prison sentence for a charge of illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility, originally filed Feb. 22, 2024. She had an aggravated possession of drugs charge dismissed. West was granted 23 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO and ordered to pay $80 to MPD crime lab. She’s subject to up to two years of post-release control.

In a separate case, West was sentenced to three years of community control for an aggravated possession of drugs charge. An obstructing official business charge was dismissed. Both charges were originally filed March 21, 2024. West is to complete her community control with Re-Entry Court upon release from prison. In this case, she was charged to pay $40 to MPD crime lab and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Seth Walter Hinton, 25, was sentenced to three years of community control for two charges originally filed Jan. 12, 2024. Hinton was charged with illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the grounds of a specified governmental facility and aggravated possession of drugs. A possession of a fentanyl-related compound charge was dismissed. He’s subject to up to two years of post-release control.

In a separate case, Hinton was sentenced to three years of community control for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed April 5, 2024. He’s subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Kathy Swartz, 65, was sentenced to pay a $500 fine, as well as court costs and supervision fees to the Richland County Probation Department for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed Nov. 13, 2023. An additional aggravated possession of drugs charge was dismissed.

— Kenneth Harris, 21, received three concurrent 12-month prison sentences, all consecutive to a one year gun specification, for three charges; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and aggravated possession of drugs. Harris was also charged with a forfeiture specification and two firearm specifications. He had four charges dismissed; trafficking in cocaine, aggravated trafficking in drugs and two firearm specifications. All charges were originally filed March 6, 2024. Harris must forfeit his firearm to the State of Ohio and was granted 58 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO. He’s subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Cholean Mullins, 32, was sentenced to three years of community control, supervision to be transferred to her home state and county, for three trafficking-in-cocaine charges. Three possession-of-cocaine charges were dismissed. All charges were originally filed Jan. 25, 2024. Mullins was charged to pay a $350 fine and $120 to MPD crime lab. She’s subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Bradley Lablanc, 39, was sentenced to two years of community control, supervision to be transferred to home county and- State of Mississippi, for four charges; improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and two forfeiture specifications. Two charges against Lablanc were dismissed; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and driving left of center. All charges were originally filed April 19, 2018. He must forfeit his firearm to the State of Ohio and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Kerria Shears, 56, entered a plea of no contest to four charges; theft (two counts), identity fraud and misuse of credit cards, each filed Nov. 5, 2021. Shears was accepted into the Prosecutor’s Diversion Program and her case will remain closed pending successful completion of the program. Shears must also pay $7,064.55 in restitution to the case’s victim.

— Jayme Mitchell, 35, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for a possession of a fentanyl-related compound charge, originally filed Jan. 12, 2024. Mitchell must pay $35 to the Ohio State Highway Patrol crime lab and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Johnny Stephens, 42, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for a possession of a fentanyl-related compound charge. An additional possession of a fentanyl-related compound charge was dismissed. Both charges were originally filed April 5, 2024. Stephens must pay a $250 fine, of which 80 percent will go to RCSO and 20 percent to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office. He is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Daniel Drake, 52, received an 180-day suspended jail sentence for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, which was amended to a first-degree misdemeanor possession of drugs charge. Drake’s charge was originally filed April 5, 2024. He was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

— Marie Carroll, 45, received three years of community control for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed April 18, 2024. Carroll is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to MPD crime lab.

— Patricia Hummel, 58, pleaded no contest to a possession-of-cocaine charge, originally filed April 18, 2024. Hummel was accepted into the Drug Court Diversion Program, which she’ll enter Sept. 12.

— Calvin Ennon, 50, was sentenced to four years of community control for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed April 18, 2024. Ennon is subject to up to two years of post-release control and must pay $40 to MPD crime lab.

— Steven Cole, 39, was sentenced to 30 months of community control for two charges; aggravated possession of drugs and misuse of credit cards, both filed May 10, 2024. Cole is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Cody Burgy, 54, received an 180-day suspended jail sentence for a charge of domestic violence, which was amended to a first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence charge. Burgy’s original charge was filed May 10, 2024. He was also charged to pay a $1,000 fine.

— Clarence Putney, 40, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for an aggravated possession of drugs charge, originally filed May 24, 2024. Putney was granted 116 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO and found indigent as to the charge’s mandatory fine. Putney must pay $80 to MPD crime lab and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Michael Havens, 34, was sentenced to three years of community control for two charges; tampering with evidence and aggravated possession of drugs, both filed May 24, 2024. Havens was charged to pay $40 to MPD crime lab and is subject to up to two years of post-release control.

— Nicholas Tess, 35, received a four to six year prison sentence from a charge of felonious assault, consecutive to a four-year sentence from another felonious assault charge. Tess was also sentenced to 60 days in the Richland County Jail, concurrent with his other two sentences, for a charge of resisting arrest. Three charges against Tess were dismissed; attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault. All charges were originally filed May 24, 2024. He was granted 136 days of jail credit for time already served at RCSO. Tess also received 18 months to three years of mandatory post-release control and must pay $126.68 in restitution to the case’s victim.
