The Welcome Home Fest in the Brickyard included games, free food, face-painting and worship. Aug. 31 marked the second annual festival.

MANSFIELD — The Brickyard became a place of worship as community members gathered to share gospel music and uplift each other for the second annual Welcome Home Fest on Saturday.

The event featured musicians, kids games, free food, sermons and a mobile baptismal pool.

Festival organizer Damien Beauford said he wanted the event to offer a place for spiritual growth and community connection.

He previously told Richland Source that the “Welcome Home” name served a double purpose.

“There’s this story in the Bible about the prodigal son. He got off track in life and he came back to the Father, and the Father welcomed him up in arms,” Beauford said.

“It’s just like this idea that, like you’re never too far away from the Father. He’s always here to receive you on the other side of that.”
