Annabelle M. Swift, 87, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday August 17, 2024 leaving behind an army of loved ones who will miss her dearly every day.
Annabelle “Ann” was born in New Washington, Ohio in 1937 to Frank and Alma (Brown) Mills but split her years between Ohio, Arizona & Idaho. After losing her second husband at an early age, in 2003 Ann married Ronald Swift at Lute’s Chapel in Yuma, Arizona. Ronald was a dedicated husband to Ann, being her rock and holding her hand through all life’s challenges. Words cannot express the appreciation the family has for the love and care Ronald provided for Ann throughout their 21 years of marriage.
Ann was a 1955 graduate of Galion Highschool and for 28 years she was an employee of the Mansfield Post Office (1969-1997). She was also a part founder and editor of the APWU Local Newspaper “Hobo Junction”. Ann attended the Church of Christ in Lexington, Ohio and Salmon River Community Church in Riggins, Idaho and Southern Baptist in Yuma, Arizona. Ann was also an active member of Eagles, Elks, Moose & American Legion, & VFW.
Ann loved to travel and had a collection of salt & pepper shakers from all 50 states. She enjoyed camping with family, dancing, and watching football & soccer. In her younger years, Ann was also an avid bowler achieving a high score of 282.
Though Ann loved so many things in life her favorite role was that of mother and grandmother. She treasured her time with family and even in her later years of life, until her health started to diminish, she made sure she was home to spend the holidays with her loved ones.
Ann is survived by her husband Ronald, her brother Darl (Diane) Mills, her children Nedra (Ron) Ernest, David (Darlene) Smith and her children of choice Terry (Annie) Swift, Dallas Long, Vickie (Jerry) Carter, Tami (Kelly) Mack, Shawna (Nick) Connelly, Curtis (April) Long, Dean Ladman, Ronda (Randy) Spickelmire, & Debbie (Leah) Swift.
She was also a beloved grandmother to 48 Grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren
Ann was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Alma (Brown) Mills, first husband Russell Smith (1971), second husband Arthur Clausen, son Frank Smith and siblings Gene Mills, Donna (Mills) Moody, & Ruth (Mills) Cayton.
Our family could not have asked for a better mother and grandmother and we will miss Ann every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all of us.
