MANSFIELD — The ninth episode of the free News Man Weekly Podcast has dropped.
In this week’s edition of the News Man Weekly podcast, Richland Source City Editor Carl Hunnell is joined by Mansfield Playhouse Artistic Director Doug Wertz.
The longtime local actor and director chats with Hunnell about his theatrical background, the upcoming season at the 95 E. 3rd St. theater and potential plans for the Playhouse, about to launch its 57th season at the same location.
Hunnell even talks Wertz into playing a couple of improv games — and they both decided it was too early in the day to be funny.

Hunnell is also joined by executive producer Zac Hiser and video producer Grant Ritchey as they riff about the news of the week — ongoing discussions about recreational cannabis dispensaries, plans from Marquise Stillwell to develop former Westinghouse sites in Mansfield, plans for a Raising Cane’s restaurant in Ontario, the 45-day closure of Trimble Road for a tunnel that will allow for a connection to the B&O Trail and the Mansfield Music Festival.
We also feature a touch of music this week from local country music artist Luke Watson.
City of Mansfield Safety Service Director Keith Porch joins the News Man Weekly Podcast on Aug. 26.
