MANSFIELD — Customers of a Taylor Road bakery will still have access to their beloved sourdough bread and baked goods.
Share ’N Dipity, which has operated at 287 Taylor Road since 2019, is transitioning to the Bakehouse at Maple Lake under new owners. It is closed through Aug. 5 for some renovations and will open its doors Tuesday.
Former owners Todd and Darlene Mast announced their plans to retire in June, telling loyal customers their last day in business would be July 26. The Masts weren’t sure if anyone would contact them wanting to take over the bakery, but they hoped so.

“The biggest request I had was to continue with what we started, and Monica and Rick are,” Darlene Mast said. “They have great plans and ideas. I think it’s the perfect match.”
Todd will be helping Rick and Monica Badgley perfect their sourdough skills as they take over the business. The Badgleys will keep Share ’N Dipity’s recipes and add some of their own to the Bakehouse at Maple Lake.
Darlene is a professionally trained sourdough bread maker and she taught her husband the skills she learned. The pair opened Share ’N Dipity in fall 2019.
“My plan in retirement is to heal my tendon issue, and travel,” Darlene said. “We’ll still be around now and then.”
Kym Lamb, who manages social media for Share ’N Dipity and the Bakehouse at Maple Lake, said she’s glad the building will still serve the neighborhood.
“I first thought there’s no way that we’ll get this passed on to new owners in two months,” Lamb said. “But, we gave it to God. God brought Monica and Rick.”
Bakehouse at Maple Lake to benefit Sri Lankan outreach
Monica is a baker and owner of Crumbcoat Cakes for a Cause. She will be selling some of her cakes and taking orders at the Bakehouse soon after the transition.
“I liked the idea of sizing up our cake business, but I didn’t really have a brick-and-mortar like this in mind at first,” Badgley said.

“There was a Mansfield Christian School family who saw they were selling and thought of us, and we were a bit hesitant, but from having some bread and talking with them, we felt that it was a lovely gift that we weren’t expecting.”
Proceeds from the Bakehouse at Maple Lake will benefit the Salt and Light Foundation which supports financial and food assistance, as well as ministry and educational resources, for people in Sri Lanka.
“We have a Sri Lankan friend who we met 20 years ago, and she is our agent on the ground,” Monica Badgley said. “She coordinates the community projects for her neighbors. The last one they did, we fed over 1,000 people.
“After expenses, all the money we make from the Bakehouse will go to Salt and Light.”
The Badgleys will be redecorating the bakery with a “nautical theme,” a tribute to Maple Lake Park’s days as a body of water in the early 20th century.

The Bakehouse will feature artisan breads, cakes, croissants, macarons, pastries and coffee. Monica said her personal favorite recipes from Share ’N Dipity are the sourdough bread and chocolate croissants.
“I’ve been a baker for around 15 years but I’m new to breads, which is why we’re keeping Todd on,” she said. “He’ll teach us all the recipes to make sure we’ve got everything down.”
Monica is a Mansfield native and Rick, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is originally from Wisconsin. The pair met overseas.
Rick said their 16-year-old daughter will frequently be around the Bakehouse running the register or helping with baking.
Customers can place bread orders by calling 419-210-1198. The Bakehouse will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday–Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Bakehouse at Maple Lake is also on Facebook and Instagram.
