LEXINGTON: Mary Lee (Fry) Kilgore passed away peacefully on July 30, 2024, surrounded by her family in her home. She was 84.
She was born on August 1, 1939 to Lee and Thelma (Ruckman) Fry in Bellville, Ohio. Growing up in the area Mary attended and graduated from Bellville High School.
Mary had a beautiful singing voice and some of her family’s favorite memories are of them all singing along while she played the piano. She had a special gift of artistry and excelled in jewelry making and flower arranging. Mary was also an exceptional seamstress, often sewing beautiful clothing for her family. She was a devout fan of The Ohio State University, cheering them on in every game, and never missed an opportunity to to cook for her loved ones. As a strong woman of Faith, Mary’s beliefs and her relationship with Christ were always so important to her.
She is survived by her three children Larry C. (Mary) Kilgore of Shipshewana, Indiana, Laura Demarest of Lexington, and Kathleen McCarter of Houston, Texas, three grandchildren Jacqueline (Tim) Jaeger, Lee Kilgore, and Matthew (Audra) Demarest, sister Florence Hunt, and special friends Larry D. Kilgore and Phyllis Johnston.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother James Fry, sister Barbara Rehmert, and two sons-in-law Jack Demarest and Jon McCarter.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday August 16th, 2024 at Bellville Cemetery at 11 am. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will speak.
