Paul Rodney Howard, resident of Shelby, age 70, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Shelby Pointe Nursing Facility.

Born August 8, 1953 in New London to Miles and Cynthia (Whitaker) Howard, he was a 1972 graduate of New London High School. A very hard worker, he had spent numerous years as a welder, ironworker and truck driver until his retirement from Golden Hawk Trucking in 2014. As a child, Paul enjoyed being outdoors and working on his family farm. He was a gifted mechanic and liked to work on cars and ride motorcycles. Paul also loved collecting and shooting guns, as well as spending time in thrift stores collecting books.

He is survived by his six children, Ben (Michelle) Howard of Shelby, Jason Howard of Shelby, Kevin (Melissa Civay) Howard of Shelby, Amy (Matt Miller) Hamilton of Mansfield, Kandi (Troy) Brown of Mansfield, Kimberly (Patrick) Decimus of Ontario; 22 grandchildren, Matt, Cody, Lauren, Ben, Dustin, Derrick, Vanessa, Jordan, Alexis, Ava, Adam, Khyler, Cayden, Eythan, Hannah, Halle, Kaylee, Kolton, Jasmyne, Jailyn, Zoe and Claritza; four great grandchildren; one brother William Howard of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings Miles Howard, Janet Lindenau, Susan Howard; and his childhood best friend, Virgil Fluharty.

Friends may visit at the Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby Friday, August 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM. Brother Michael Rogers will officiate with interment held at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.

In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
