Walter “Ray” Messer, 75, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away on July 22, 2024 at home following a long battle with COPD. On August 30, 1948 he was born in Mansfield, Ohio the son of the late Robert and Eileen Messer. He married Kimberly (Baker) Messer in Mansfield and they shared 46 years together. Ray was a heavy equipment operator like his father before him. He traveled all over the US with his work often having Kim join him and making wonderful memories together as they traveled. Ray loved motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson of which he owned several over the years and also traveling with his wife, Kim. His proudest achievements were his children. Ray’s sense of humor and his authenticity is what made him unique.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Messer; daughter, Ashley Messer; son, Larry Messer; grandson, Sylas Messer; brother, Dana (Stacey) Messer; sisters, Toni Vesper and Beverly Boyd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eileen and brother-in-law Jack Vesper.
The family would like to thank Pathways Hospice for making him comfortable in his last months. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on August 3, 2024 from 2:00~6:00 PM at the VFW Post #3494, 853 Ashland Rd., Mansfield, Oh 44905.
