Faye E. Turk, 84, of Ashland passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Inn at Ashland Woods with her loving family at her side.
She was born on March 16, 1940, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Jay E. and Ruby M. (nee Seidner) White.
Faye graduated from Polk High School, Class of 1958. She married the love of her life, Roy Turk, on November 1st that same year.
Faye was employed at First National Bank and Polk State Bank before dedicating her life to full-time motherhood and keeper of the family home. She was a tireless champion of and helper at Turk Brother’s Custom Meats, which was started by her husband and late brother-in-law, Chuck Turk, in 1961.
She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church where she helped with countless congregational and funeral dinners and served many years as a church camp cook at Camp Piedmont, First UMC’s annual youth summer camp. Faye was a 60-year member of the Garfield Chapter #324 Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as worthy matron. Additionally, she was honored to serve in several state-level offices within the Order of the Eastern Star.
Faye was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians, and loved attending games in person as well as watching on television. Most of all she was a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother always hosting memorable family get-togethers with an array of board games and entertainment. As a devoted grandmother, she attended countless baseball and basketball games, cross country meets, dance, violin and piano recitals, and gymnastics meets.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years of marriage, Mr. Roy Turk of Ashland; one daughter, Susan (Bill) Zimmerman of Delaware; one son, Kevin Turk of Ashland; four grandchildren, Charlie Zimmerman of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Beth Zimmerman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kyle Turk of Ashland, and Morgan Turk of Ashland; three sisters, Carol Crossen of Nankin, Barbara (Jack) Wiley of Ashland Springfield, Ohio, and Sandra Van Scoy of Ashland and one sister-in-law, Marlene DeWitt of Leesburg, Florida; one brother, Terry (Elizabeth) White of Perrysburg and one brother-in-law Donald Harris of Marengo, Ohio. Additionally, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by four brothers-in-law, Philip Crossen, Dennis Van Scoy, Charles Turk, and Donald (Portia) Turk and one sister Doris Harris, and one sister-in-law Sally (Turk) Schoonover and her husband, Gordon Schoonover.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 220 Sandusky Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Tom Snyder presiding. Interment will be in the Polk Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the time of the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland County Cancer Association or to the Ashland First United Methodist Church.
