Dr. Constance Louis Nesbitt Brody passed on June 21, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Dr. Stanley Brody), eldest son (Mark Cooper) and stepson (Don Brody). Dr. Brody is survived by her son and daughter in law Craig (Dianne) Cooper, daughter Leslie Cooper, stepdaughters Janet Brody, Judy Brody, stepdaughter-in-law Cheryl Welch, daughter-in-law Mindy Cooper, grandchildren Jason (Amy) Cooper, Nathan Sanders, Perry Brody, Molly Brody, Melissa (Amy), Ty (Martina) Schaub, Courtney (Jeremy) Fleming, great grandchildren (Mia, Callum, Quinn, Avery).

Dr. Brody was born in Columbus, Ohio to Frederick C. and Winifred (Keller) Nesbitt. An absolute joy to her doting parents, she enjoyed an idyllic childhood, graduating from Grandview Heights High School. Continuing her education, Dr. Brody started at Miami University, eventually transferring to the Ohio State University, where she completed her education through to her doctorate, at age 58. Beyond her collegiate degrees, she continued to study and grow in her chosen field of psychology, including specialized certifications in addiction treatment and endless courses on healing trauma of all types.
Marrying Dr. Stanley L. Brody, they formed what they referred to as the Brody Bunch, six kids, three boys, three girls. Together, they built their dream home, filling it with love, support, laughter and tears. A place we could return, if ever there was a want or need. They modelled a life of independence, hard work, civic mindedness, compassion.

Adventurous in free thinking, Dr. Brody pursued knowledge in areas involving the mind, philosophies, healing and unlocking the mysteries of life. She was among the earliest students of biofeedback therapy, meditation, neurolinguistic programming, recognizing the connection between the mind and the body in healing. She developed her own method of handling migraines through guided meditative hypnosis, allowing many to forgo medications.

Dr. Brody fought for equal rights, women’s rights to autonomy of their bodies, and equal employment opportunities. As a social worker she helped people and children in dire domestic situations escape and build new lives. Early in her psychology career, she helped women in prison find ways to heal from trauma and rebuild lives upon release. As a drug treatment counselor, she worked with her husband to help people trapped by addiction, continuing this work in private practice. Dr. Brody helped individuals and families heal, helped trauma survivors learn to manage PTSD symptoms, helped victims of abuse rebuild their lives, all with compassion, love, empathy and skills honed over a lifetime of study.
Dr. Brody and, her husband, Stanley left their indelible mark on the area in philanthropy throughout Mansfield and Richland County. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Richland Academy of the Arts, Ohio State Reformatory, OhioHealth Hospital, local animal shelters, Renaissance, Mansfield Symphony, Fun Center Chordsman, Friendly House and many more have received their support.

A founding member of the Richland Academy of the Arts, she was also a long-time board member, including as President for two years. Dr. Brody was the secretary for the Reformatory Board for more than a decade. She was President of the Richland County Mental Health Association, for two years. Fraternal organizations included Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Upsilon Omicron and Tri-Delta Sorority. Business affiliations included Ohio Psychological Association, Association for the Treatment of Sex Offenders, National Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists and American Board of Forensic Examiners and others.
She often told stories of the time Paul Newman asked her for directions, the time she missed meeting JFK Jr, and her trip to Egypt.

The children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of this amazing lady have been graced with her love, compassion, knowledge and empathy are forever grateful.
