ONTARIO — Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers has announced it plans to open a restaurant on Lexington-Springmill Road by next year.

Public relations senior manager Hannah Henderson said the restaurant signed a lease in May and plans to open its doors next summer. She said she expects to be able to share more information in September.

“We are currently in our inspection period, (which) will end on Sept. 1,” she said. “Should everything go to plan, we will open doors in the area in the summer of 2025.”

Online rumors of the restaurant coming to Richland County are nothing new. A 13-year-old Facebook post gained traction locally about a Cane’s location in Ontario, California in November 2022.

Cane’s itself published job openings for a location in Mansfield last November for a location that didn’t yet exist.

Henderson said those job openings were connected to a former real estate deal, but the Cane’s team has now pivoted to a different location in Ontario. It has signed a lease for an undisclosed Lexington-Springmill Road location that is presently an operating business.

There are currently 50 Raising Cane’s operating in Ohio. The closest to Richland County include locations in Heath, Delaware, Columbus, Akron and an upcoming Willoughby restaurant.

Henderson said each Cane’s restaurant hires at least 100 employees, both full- and part-time.
