MANSFIELD — Jim Heichel said his wife Jenyffer is the reason their new business is running.
“I’ve been doing industrial controls around Mansfield for more than 30 years now, and when I met her, she thought we should venture out on our own,” he said. “We’ve had some good guys that we picked up along the way who have all helped to get us where we are.”
Abdo Industrial Machine Services celebrated its grand opening Wednesday with employees, family members and community leaders.
Mayor Jodie Perry thanked the owners for their work at Wednesday’s ribbon cutting and grand opening.
“Thank you for investing in Mansfield and specifically, the north end,” she said. “It’s great to see this building active and in operation again and we’re excited to see what you do here.”
Abdo Industrial Machine Services is named in honor of Jenyffer’s last name, Abdo. The business works with a variety of industrial machines, equipment and automation to troubleshoot hardware issues, design parts and prototypes and install upgrades.
Abdo currently has a staff of seven team members. Heichel said the team has already traveled to different states for work.
“We moved in here in October and have worked really hard to get to where we are,” he said.
“Most of our work is offsite with a customer. This is a great location to be in, trucks can come right off of 30 for all the parts we need. We pack them up and ship them to where they need to go.”
Heichel grew up in Butler and lives in Mansfield. He has previously worked in metal stamping, foundries, and at Mansfield Plumbing Products.
“Our team here has lots of years of experience between us in industrial equipment repair,” he said. “We aim to treat every client like they’re part of our family.”
Abdo Industrial Machine Services is located at 433 Springmill St. Its hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday–Friday. Customers can reach the business at 419-775-5800 or jimheichel@abdoservices.com, and on Facebook.
