FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP – A Mansfield man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Franklin Township, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Joseph Crose, 73, of Mansfield, was pronounced deceased at the scene, the Patrol reported.

The incident took place at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Bowman Street Road at Amoy West Road. 

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Crose was operating a 1986 Pontiac Fiero east on Amoy West Road. Mary Studer, 18, of Mansfield, was operating a 2021 Jeep Wrangler southeast on Bowman Street Road. 

The Patrol stated that Crose failed to yield the right-of-way at a stop sign and was struck by Studer. After being struck, the Pontiac traveled off the right side of the road. 

The Mansfield Post was assisted by the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Township Fire & EMS, Weller Township Fire & EMS, Richland County Coroner and Terry’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
