BELLVILLE: Glenda Kay Crook, of Bellville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at OhioHealth Mansfield after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She was 65.
She was born the daughter of Dorothy Shaffer on November 10th, 1958 in Mansfield, Ohio. On February 12, 1995 she married the love of her life Oliver Allen Crook and they shared 24 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Now they are together again.
Glenda was a hard worker as was evident of her many years at General Industries, Kemper Insurance, and School Specialty. And while she took pride in all of her work she spent her remaining years doing the one thing she was most passionate about- caring for others through home health caregiving.
She was a member of the American Legion Post #535, the Amvets Post #43, and the Moose Lodge. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her three girls (Shih Tzu’s), breeding her dogs, gardening, her morning chats with friends over coffee, playing bingo, and collecting vintage Americana items and Precious Moments trinkets. Above all else though Glenda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. As an athlete herself, she became her kids and grandkids biggest cheerleader in all of their sporting events, and never missed an opportunity to brag about them all. When she was feeling under the weather, her favorite comfort came from watching western movies from her recliner with her sister Pat “Grace” and her “Mikey”. Glenda was a caregiver by nature, and possessed an uncanny ability to find everything her children lost- including a $100 bill while mushroom hunting in the woods! Her selfless heart and giving spirit will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Glenda is survived by her children Tammy Gray of Bellville, Michael (Katelynn) Crook, of Mansfield, Jonathan Crook of Bellville, and Brandon Crook of Mt. Vernon, grandchildren Tyler, Nolan, Belyse, Anastasia, Emmianna, and Kinzel, great-granddaughter Wrenley, siblings Patty Weikle, Jean (Larry) Webb, Ronald (Beverly) Flynn, Edward (Sue Ellen) Flynn, Carolyn (Jim) Shireman, John Rhea, Danny Flynn, Tim (Gloria) Flynn, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Mike Fisher.
Along with her husband she is preceded in death by her mother, siblings Robert Flynn, William Flynn, Janet Flynn, and Cathy Kniceley, and granddaughter Ava Crook.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 12th, 2024 at the American Legion Post #535 in Bellville, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to her family directly through her daughter Tammy Gray.
