ONTARIO: Shirley LeMmon didn’t exhibit such great care for others because she expected some reward – she did so because it was the natural expression of her compassionate heart. She would help anyone – without being asked – and was outgoing and honest, perhaps to a fault.

Remembered as kind woman who cherished her friends, with just a little ornery streak, Shirley passed away Saturday afternoon, June 22, in Winchester Rehabilitation Center. She was 88.

Born Shirley Ann Davis on November 21, 1935 in West Virginia to parents Ray and Jo (Wyrick) Davis, she worked with the Mansfield telephone company and operated her own hairdressing salon from her home for 15 years.
Shirley attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in North Woodbury and later St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ontario. She was active with a garden club, and while living in Johnsville served as an EMT for Morrow County and was Squad Captain at the Johnsville Station.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (Diana) Boyle of Johnsville and Robert (Nancy) Boyle of Clinton, WA; a nephew she considered her son Chuck Davis of Galion; grandchildren Sonja Stansberry, Jerry Boyle Jr., Andrew Boyle, Travis Boyle and Garret Boyle; great grandchildren Donovan Boyle, Joshua Spears, Gracie Boyle, Paige (Frank) Portugal, Logan Boyle, Roger (Heather) Spears Jr., Makayla Boyle, Maddie Boyle, and Amelia Boyle; great great grandchildren; a brother Benny (Ruth) Davis; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Craig LeMmon, a son Tommy Boyle, a great grandson J. J. Boyle, and two brothers Jimmy Davis and Lloyd Davis.

Her family will receive friends Wednesday, June, 26, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Avenue, Mansfield, where her funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Celebrant Dave Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.

With a nod to Shirley’s service to Squad 5, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morrow County Squad.
