WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — One person was killed and two more people suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 13 south of Mansfield.

According to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:04 a.m. near mile post 7.

Troopers said Tarin Hoffman, 36, of Mansfield was driving a 2004 Dodge Dakota northbound on Ohio 13 with two passengers — Nathan Phillips, 48, of Mansfield, and Shannon Spicer, 40, of Mansfield.

The patrol said Hoffman drove left of center, striking a 2015 Subaru Outback that was southbound on Ohio 13, driven by Kami Coe, 34, of Ashland.

“Ms. Hoffman’s vehicle overturned and came to rest of the west edge of the roadway,” according to the patrol.

Troopers said Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene. Hoffman and Spicer were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with serious injuries. Coe was treated and released at the scene, the patrol said.

Troopers said Hoffman and Spicer were not wearing seatbelts. Coe and Phillips were wearing seatbelts, they said.

The accident remains under investigation, according to the patrol.

Troopers from the Mansfield Post were assisted by Bellville police, Washington and Jefferson township fire departments, Richland County Coroner’s Office, Mike’s Marathon Towing and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
