Carol L. Keil, 75 of Ashland passed away early Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center.
She was born on July 19, 1948 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Arthur and Leah (Perkins) Lloyd.
Carol graduated from Mapleton High School in 1966 and Ashland College in 1970 with a Master’s Degree of Education. She married James Keil on June 24, 1976 at the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, Ohio.
She was an elementary teacher in the Ashland City Schools. She taught at Lincoln, Pleasant Street and Taft Elementary, retiring after 37 years. She was a member of the Ohio Education Association and Ashland City Teacher’s Association. A long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, she served as a deacon, elder and choir member. She enjoyed singing at funeral services. She loved cooking for her family and planting flowers around her home.
Carol is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, James; daughter, Susie (Nic) Schwartz of Ashland, sister Nancy Young of Ashland; brother and sister-in-law, Mike (Judy) Keil of Mt. Gilead; three nephews, Adam, Ben and Doug Young of Ashland, and best friend Pam McQuate of Ashland.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wayne and Eola Perkins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church, 320 Church St. Ashland, with Reverend Justin Hylden presiding.
Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.
