Letter to the Editor in purple lettering on envelope

Yes, President Biden is old, but….

Let’s put the issue of Biden’s age aside for a minute and ask more important questions.

Does he possess the character and the virtues we want to see in our president, and does he respect our laws and long-established norms of proper conduct? Is he honorable in his speech and behavior? Does he treat people with respect, or does he come across as vile, mean, and vindictive? Is he concerned about all Americans regardless of the color of their skin and their religion or lack thereof?

Does he have a clear, noble vision for America beyond just a catchy phrase? Does he believe in the best of America, or does he only see the worst? Does he have a strong desire to serve the American people or is he merely interested in revenge and his own petty self interests? Does he have the emotional maturity to handle the job, or does he make decisions based on impulse and his “gut feelings?” Does he possess the wisdom necessary to make sound decisions or is he basically reactionary and transactional?

Joe Biden is a just a few years older than Trump, but he still possesses the qualities Americans need in their president. Trump’s slightly younger age is not an asset considering his many flaws.

Trump lacks the “credentials” necessary to lead America through these very difficult times. What Biden lacks in youth he more than makes up in the qualities America needs in her president — wisdom, experience, and emotional maturity.

With age comes an eventual decline in memory to be sure. But Biden’s advisors are people of good judgement, not a bunch of criminals. Bottom line, Biden’s age is offset by his many other qualities essential to advance America’s cause and the cause of freedom throughout the world.
