DAYTON — Lexington’s Elyana Weaver capped her high school career in style.
A senior, Weaver placed third in the 800-meter run on the final day of the Division II state track meet at Welcome Stadium. Her time of 2:14.23 was a new personal record.
Weaver wasn’t the only area athlete to shine Saturday afternoon. Teammate Emily Thomas placed eighth in the 30 hurdles (46.02), while Ontario’s Bodpegn Miller was sixth in the 200 (22.60).
Ontario’s Jace Young and Centerburg’s Greg Beard both competed in the boys 800. Young was seventh in 1:55.69, while Beard was 17th in 2:01.22. Ontario’s Dean Morrison finished 15th in the 3,200 (9:54.23).
Galion’s 4×100 relay team of Zach Sallee, Sam Evans, Gabe Ivy and Jacob Chambers finished fifth in 42.60.
The Ontario 4×400 team of Aiden Fox, Young, Landon Foltz and Miller was fifth in 3:23.99.
Division I
It was a good closing day for the Lexington boys 4×400 relay team.
The crew of Will Perkins, Carter Newman, Dantrell Hughes and Latrell Hughes finished third in 3:17.18.
Mount Vernon’s Marissa Rutter placed eighth in the girls 100 hurdles in 16.32. Lexington’s Chance Basilone was 15th in the 3,200 in 9:25.37.
Lexington’s Megan Haring finished eighth in the seated 100 (33.01) and seventh in the seated 400 (2:15:57).
