SHELBY — Connor Bolen was selected Student of the Month for April when the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment had its monthly test at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.
“Connor has worked diligently on his kata and his sparring. He has met the criteria for perseverance, integrity, indomitable spirit, courtesy, and self-control,” said Sensei Reneta Music.
“We would like to thank the Ohio Bird Sanctuary for hosting our tests as we look for a building to move our school into,” Music said.

Colin Hall — green
Ronnie Winnick — orange
Olivia Cains — yellow
Ronin Issac — yellow
Christian Issac — yellow
Gavin Issac — yellow
The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment is a non-profit karate and empowerment academy that offers classes to youth beginning at age 6.
“We believe all young adults should be able to receive a karate education in a safe, disciplined, nurturing environment where all students are equal,” Music said.
Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning at 5 p.m.
