WOOSTER — Lexington’s Ethan Remy and Dylan Catanese are two wins from a state title.

The duo won a pair of doubles matches Thursday at the Division II state tennis tournament at the College of Wooster and will play in the semifinals Friday.

Remy and Catanese opened tournament play with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win over Dayton Oakwood’s Arick Baldwin and Noah Boyce. They followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over University School’s Vishwum Kapadia and Rohit Talasila in the quarterfinals.

Remy and Catanese will play Columbus Academy’s Lucas Xue and Rowen Lo in Friday’s semifinals.

The Ontario duo of Hector Sanchez Vidal and Pablo Sanchez Vidal won their opening match before falling in the quarterfinals. The pair beat University School’s Cole Kirchick and Lucas Weidenbecher 7-5, 7-5 then lost in three sets to Pepper Pike Orange’s Gabi Kalir and Ace Bloom in the quarterfinals, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Lexington’s Karl Etzel and Owan Gongwer dropped their opening-round match to Bexley’s Sam Lessard and Oscar Ramsden, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

Lexington’s Cooper Remy reached the state tournament in singles, but dropped his first-round match. Remy fell to Cincinnati Seven Hills’ Adi Nayak 6-0, 6-1.
