ONTARIO — Ontario Middle School’s Family Career and Community Leaders of America Parliamentary Procedure team recently made history.
The squad became the first in school history to advance to national competition in Seattle, Washington.
In April, the Ontario Middle School (OMS) Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Parliamentary Procedure team, competed at the state level and took home the silver medal.

Hours of practicing parliamentary procedure, performing the opening and closing ceremonies, and studying for the written test paid off.
The group earned a special opportunity to represent Ohio when the students attend the National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Seattle from June 29 to July 3.
At the NLC, the girls will compete in their category against teams from other states.
They are the only Level One team to compete from Ohio and hope to make their state proud.
The OMS FCCLA team is comprised of seven students from 8th and 7th grade, including: Aadi Kigthtlinger, Haylee Breitinger, Olivia Sandwall, Alex McAleer, Leah Bonen, Kennedy Sapp, and Gia Gfrer.
In another significant first, they are the first Parliamentary Procedure team in the history of OMS to advance beyond districts.
This is quite an achievement for a first-year team to qualify for nationals. To say the team is excited is an understatement.
The team is trying to raise money to offset to offset the cost of the trip – $28,800.
They are having bake sales and car washes which will help, but likely not move the needle very much, so they are reaching out to the community for a little help.
If you have any questions or would like to support, feel free to reach out to Christine Gfrer or Robin Owen.
