Michael C. “Mike” Williams passed away on April 29, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was 64.
He was born on March 30, 1960, to parents Jack and Beverly (Tier) Williams in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where he grew up and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1978. On July 19, 1986, he married Debbie Peters, and they shared many wonderful years together.
Mike grew up playing a variety of sports. He was never one to sit behind a desk, which led him to working for over 20 years at Mansfield Cement Flooring pouring concrete, often getting to work alongside his dad. He later transitioned to working at School Specialty for many years.
In his spare time, he took pleasure in cheering on all Ohio sports teams with The Ohio State Football team and the Cleveland Browns being his favorites. He also made sure to go golfing whenever he had a chance. Mike had a life-long love of NASCAR, taking many trips to the Daytona 500 and camping out with his parents, and then as an adult attending the Michigan 400 with Debbie. Outside of sports, he was a member of the Mt. Vernon Moose Lodge, the Mt. Vernon AMVETS, and the Bellville American Legion for many years. Mike was a simple guy who enjoyed good music, good food, sports, and an ice-cold beer, but above all else he cherished his family. There was nothing more important to him than his wife and daughter.
He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Williams and their daughter Alicia Williams.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his daughter Valerie Williams.
The Williams family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 3-6 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service for Mike will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:30 am at Bellville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Hospice of Central Ohio or to The James Cancer Research Hospital.
