Today’s the day!Ā Richland Source, Ashland Source and Knox Pages are live with a new account management system. This means you’ll be prompted to sign in or create a new account soon, if that hasn’t happened already.

In case you missed the pre-launch messaging, here are the headlines:

  1. You’ll need to create a new user account, or log in to your existing account.
  2. We’ll begin to limit access for non-members to some of our most time-intensive original reporting.

Important note: All non-members will have to create a new account, even if you’ve already given us your email in the past.

Activate your account

Step 1: Click the ā€œSign Inā€ button on the top right of your screen. On mobile, look for the circle icon next to MENU.

If you’re a non-member, you will have to create an account — click “I don’t have an account” and go from there.

If you’re a member, simply enter the email address associated with your membership and click “Send Authorization Code.”

Step 2: After you log in, you’ll be taken to the new “My Account” page where you can verify your email and create a password if you choose.

Creating an account on Richland Source automatically creates an account for you on Ashland Source and Knox Pages. Once you’ve created an account on one of our sites, you can sign in to all three.

You can read all about what’s changing in the helpful FAQ our staff put together:

Understanding access and membership

Non-members who visit us frequently will start to run into some limits on the amount of original reporting they can read at no charge. The best way to remove all limits is to purchase a membership.

Your membership ensures unlimited access to all our journalism, and makes a critical investment in an informed and engaged community at the same time.

We’re limiting access and inviting readers to purchase memberships because ambitious and impactful local journalism is demanding. It requires smart, dedicated reporters and editors who act as your eyes and ears at events, government meetings, emergencies, high school games, and on and on. The list is endless, it goes on 24/7, and… it’s worth it.

Limiting access for non-members is essentially a reminder for frequent readers to make a small investment in trusted local news — which in turn, is an investment in our community.

Best of all, you can rest easy knowing every dollar of your membership is rolled right back into a newsroom that looks for solutions, finds answers to your questions, and helps you make informed decisions about your life.

We know limited access is a big change

Look, we know this will be an adjustment. Some people will choose membership and some won’t. Either choice is okay, because all registered users will have access to some original reporting before they encounter a limit.

What we know for sure is every member of our team has worked for a decade to build trusted, independent local newsrooms free from outside influence and focused on service to their communities. We think we’ve accomplished a lot together with our readers.

Now it’s time to take the next step and make sure those newsrooms are here for the long haul. If you’re already a member, an advertiser, a Newsroom Partner, a philanthropic donor or a marketing client, thank you. You’ve lit the way to a sustainable future.

If you’d like to become a member, today’s a great day to do it.

Most of all, thanks for sticking with us through the last 10 years. It’s been a heckuva ride, and we’re excited to have you with us going forward.
