Stella Mae Taylor, 82 of Mansfield, passed away April 6, 2024. She was born September 25, 1941 in Brownsville, TN to the late Earl Byars and Betty (Bunch) Sangster.

A determined and independent lady, Stella had what many would say was a genuine and good heart for people. Sure, she could be selective in her later years for her relationships she held close, but she always made sure to treat others with respect. She had a generous and caring spirit and held a unique, yet individual, special relationship with each of her children. In her earlier years, Stella enjoyed vegetable gardening. As she matured in life, she found comfort in the peace of her own dwelling. Going out to shop, taking in a delicious meal, or just simply grocery shopping brought a good deal of enjoyment in her later years. She was retired from Universal after 20 years of service, but she had also worked for Ohio Brass, Montgomery Ward, and HiStat.

Stella is survived by her four children, Linda Mullins, Marvin (Sylvia) Taylor, Earl (Sam) Taylor, and Gary Taylor; seven grandchildren, Crystal Todd, Joel Jr. (Shannon) Todd, Janis Todd, Brandon Taylor, Alex Taylor, Matini Taylor, and Skylon Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, Alaishya Butler, Dae’onna Butler, Maurice Bradley Jr., Jastelle Bradley, Jaxson Gordon, Ryan Todd, and Bryn Todd; her siblings, Thelma Sangster-Smith, Zelma William, Ida Ruth, Charlie Sangster Jr., Len (Lynnette) Sangster, and William (Burnette) Sangster; Her special aunt, Ida “Aunt Tiny” Lester; and many dear nieces, nephews and other close relatives.

Preceding Stella in her passing were her parents; an infant child; her four siblings, Ben Sangster, Hattie Mae (George) Singleton, Louise Sangster, and Nola (William) Hendrix; two brothers in law, Bobby Smith and James William; a sister in law, Fannie Joe Sangster; and her aunt Estelle.

In accordance with Stella’s final wishes, the family will not be observing public services. Wappner Funeral Directors-Mansfield is honored to have been chosen to serve the Taylor family.
