William Henry Scribner Jr., 91 of Mansfield, passed away on April 11, 2024, at Millcreek Nursing Home. William was born on June 25, 1932, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late William Sr. and Sara “Sally” (Ward) Scribner.

William married his beloved partner, Joyce McCurry on August 18, 1951. They spent a wonderful 67 years together before Joyce’s passing on May 2, 2019.

William was a dedicated machinist at General Motors for over 30 years, and also honorably served his country in the United States Navy. His commitment extended beyond his professional and military service, as he was a lifelong member of Trinity Gospel Church where he attended with Joyce.

Embracing a wide array of interests and hobbies, William found joy in every aspect of life. He enjoyed farming and tending to his garden, bowling, cooking, and working on his latest woodworking project. William loved the scenery of outside while he was fishing or shooting archery. Many memories were made taking his sons, Greg and Rick, fishing at Clearfork Reservoir when they were younger. William was known for watching any Western movie that was playing, but Gun Smoke was his favorite. He cherished time spent on vacations, particularly on General Motors trips with his beloved wife, Joyce.

William is survived by his sons, Greg (Carolin) Scribner of Winston-Salem, NC, and Rick (Sherry) Scribner of New Carlisle; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, William was preceded in death by his daughters, Vickie and Bridget Scribner.
