Shirley A. Ruhl of Lexington passed away peacefully at home on April 5,2024.

She was born in Mansfield December 18, 1941 to Paul and Virginia (Rider) Ludwig. She graduated from Madison High School in 1959 and was a devout member of St. Peter’s Catholic church. Shirley married the love of her life, Ralph W Ruhl on April 29, 1961 and they spent 51 wonderful years together before his passing on September 6, 2012.

Shirley was a member of the Eastern Star and Ruth’s Circle and enjoyed the company of those at the meetings, making many new lifetime friends. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, canning, and taking care of her flowerbeds, but she most enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was grateful when her cousin Paul brought the extended family back together for annual reunions. Keeping in touch with family and friends through cards and phone calls regularly was all part of her kind spirit and genuine caring of all those she knew.

Those left to treasure her memories include her daughter, Teresa Kehl, son, Bill Ruhl; grandchildren Jason and Jesse Kehl, Nikki Ruhl, Kristi (Alan) Hill, Hunter, Shyanne, Quintin, and Zane Ruhl; great grandchildren Lilli Kehl, Josephine and Andrew Hill, and Oaklynn and Theo Ruhl; brother Tony (Yoshee) Ludwig; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Ludwig.

Visitation will take place at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West on Wednesday from 4 – 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield on Thursday at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
