BUCYRUS — Monday, April 8 is the first total solar eclipse to hit the continental U.S. in seven years and Bucyrus is in the path of totality.

That hasn’t happened in Ohio since 1806.

To celebrate this monumental event, CCAC is hosting a weekend-long event in addition to several solar and space-themed classes throughout April.

The Crawford County Art Center is located at 1810 E Mansfield St., Bucyrus.

The Crawford County Art Center will not be having an event the day of the eclipse and will be closed that day due to traffic safety warnings.

“In addition to the souvenir making, we have a full gallery themed around the eclipse,” the organization stated in a press release.

View the gallery and purchase art during all of the center’s open times until April 15.

“On the 20th we will be switching it out for our next theme — Flourish. Be sure to stop in and check out Eclipse while you can.”

Souvenir Making Event

Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. there will be a drop-in class to make tote bags as souvenirs based on the splendor of this spectacular event.

There is no pre-registration for this event but there is a small cost of $15 for members and $20 for non-members. This is a drop-in class; meaning that you can come at any point during the open times and participate by paying at the door.

Eclipse Chalk Art & Oreo Moons

Sunday, April 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. is the regularly scheduled Creation Station. This will be happening during the same time at the souvenir tote event on Sunday and is a FREE drop-in class.

DIY Constellations

Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the usual Second Saturday event. This month the center will be making its own constellations using a chosen word and a graph to plot the position of the stars. This is another FREE drop-in class.

Space Slime

Sunday, April 21 from 2 to 6 p.m. is a crowd favorite for the community.

“We will be making space and galaxy themed slime,” organizers stated.

This Creation Station is another FREE drop-in event.

Solar System Necklaces

Sunday, April 28 from 2 to 6 p.m. the center will be making necklaces, bracelets, or keychains using our massive collection of beads.

Search through to find what you think perfectly represents each of the solar bodies in our solar system. This is another Creation Station FREE drop-in class.
