MANSFIELD — What is your artistic vision of the upcoming solar eclipse?

Luke Beekman with Mankind Murals Inc. would love to help you share that vision with the community

Local residents are invited to submit original artwork for a Luminous Eclipse event in the Luminous City studio lot in downtown Mansfield at 88 N. Diamond St.

“Artwork submissions in the theme of the eclipse, as well as anything solar, lunar or stellar are greatly encouraged,” Beekman said. “Artwork outside of the theme may also be considered.”

The deadline for submission is Wednesday, April 3, Beekman said. Artists can click here to submit their work.

“We are providing an outdoor gallery wall, permitting for the sale of beer, wine and spirits during the weekend of the eclipse event,” Beekman said.

A gallery opening night is planned Saturday, April 6, from 6 to 10 p.m. and will also be serving drinks Monday, April 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a DJ providing music, during the eclipse event itself.

“We will be serving artisan drinks with an eclipse-inspired playlist. Collaborations include the Phoenix Brewing Company, Wishmaker Wines, Carson Travel and Gigi’s Tacos and Margaritas,” said Beekman, adding water, specialty teas and non-alcoholic drinks will also be available during the event.

The artwork will be the centerpiece of the event.

“Space is limited, so please share details such as size, as well as title, and the medium of the artwork. Please submit five artworks for consideration in this gallery collection,” Beekman said.

He said artists will be notified via email if their work will be included in either the outdoor gallery wall or indoor studio walls for the event.

“Art selected for the show must be ready to hang. Original art may be listed for sale, or not for sale. Prints may also be for sale if a particular design is selected. Any art sales will be marked up 20 percent as the artist would earn 80 percent commission of a listed retail price,” Beekman said.
